Fruit & vegetables: temperature under control. Process under control.
Your goods stay fresh from field to shelf. We build refrigerated vehicles tuned to your routes, your stops and your products, with multi-zone cooling, hygienic surfaces and thoughtful cargo securing.
Value proposition
What fruit and vegetable logistics teams find at TBV
Multi-zone tuned for F&V
Three separately controllable climate zones: salad at 0 to 2 degrees, tomatoes at 12 to 15 degrees, bananas at 13 to 14 degrees. Movable partitions per day load.
Ethylene separation as standard
Separate air loops prevent apples and pears from over-ripening sensitive berries or leafy greens. Own evaporator per zone.
Built for 40 stops per tour
Fast-closing rear portals, optional sliding wall and pallet-truck-rated GRP floor handle high tour rhythm with frequent door openings.

Concept
Fruit and vegetables are living goods
After harvest they continue to breathe, release ethylene and react sensitively to every temperature swing. That is exactly where TBV starts: we build bodies that do not just cool, but structurally separate the different varietal needs. A multi-zone configuration with its own airflow per chamber lets you deliver bananas, salad and ethylene-strong stone fruit varieties in the same vehicle without compromise on quality or ATP compliance. Every body is engineered with the actual tour in mind, from wholesale market shuttle service to branch delivery with thirty or more stops per day.
Multi-zone, ethylene and workflow in detail
A continuous single temperature is not enough for mixed F&V tours. Salad and spinach need 0 to 2 degrees at around 95 percent humidity, tomatoes and cucumbers do not tolerate temperatures below 10 degrees, bananas lose their quality permanently below 13 degrees. Add the ethylene sensitivity: apples and pears emit ripening gas that ages broccoli, berries and leafy greens in the same chamber within hours. TBV bodies solve this through physically separated chambers with their own evaporators and air loops, not through retrofitted separation curtains.
Wholesalers increasingly pick on the cross-docking principle: goods arrive in the morning as variety-pure pallets and get sliced by branch, that is, repacked per stop in E2 crates. The vehicle stands at the ramp with open doors up to thirty times a day. Bodies must cool away residual heat quickly, prevent condensation on salad and spinach, and withstand pallet-truck runs on the floor without rutting. TBV processes GRP sandwich panels with minimal joints, with coving at the floor connection, so that high-pressure cleaning at the end of the tour is done in twenty minutes.
Advantages
What counts in fresh distribution
Multi-zone configuration
Two or three separately controllable chambers, movable aluminium partitions with hook-and-loop seal. Own evaporator per zone, no temperature mixing.
Ethylene separation
Separate air loops for apple and pear chambers. Berries, leaf salads and brassicas stay in their own zone, without ripening-gas transfer.
Door-cycle robust
High-frequency sliding door or two-wing rear portals with magnetic seal. Unit sized with reserve for 30 to 40 door openings per day.
HACCP-compliant cleaning
Low-joint GRP interior lining, coving, rounded corners. Suitable for high-pressure and steam cleaning, without water ingress into sandwich panels.
Pallet-truck-rated floor
Aluminium chequered plate or reinforced GRP floor rated for 7.5 t axle load. Anti-slip surface, compatible with E2 crates, EUR and Düsseldorf pallets.
Condensation avoidance
Optimised airflow via ceiling duct and floor extraction. Evaporator with hot-gas defrost prevents drip water on salad and spinach.
Frequently asked questions about fruit and vegetables
Lead time depends on vehicle class and equipment. As a rule, you can expect six to ten weeks from order confirmation. Standard configurations can be faster.
For the transport of fruit and vegetables, the ATP guidelines and HACCP requirements apply. Our vehicles are ATP-certified and meet all common hygiene standards.
Yes, many equipment options can be retrofitted. Partitions, additional temperature zones or cargo securing systems can also be added after delivery.
We offer individual service packages. From basic maintenance to the full-service package with ATP inspection and spare parts, everything is possible. Talk to us for a quote.
Our vehicles are designed for high-pressure cleaning. The seamless surfaces and rounded corners allow fast and thorough disinfection with commercially available agents.
